A budget-impact analysis (BIA), addresses the expected changes in the expenditure of a healthcare system after the adoption of a new intervention.(1) The completion of a BIA is a required step in the development of NCEC National Clinical Guidelines in Ireland.(2) In the context of guideline development, the purpose of the BIA is to quantify the resource implications of implementing the recommendations. That is, to synthesise the best available knowledge in order to estimate the additional resources and costs for the healthcare system.(3) This BIA is developed to support the guideline development group (GDG), who are preparing the National Clinical Guideline, Unexpected Intraoperative Life Threatening Haemorrhage Guideline, for the Irish healthcare system.en_US
